Visit the WVAM Art Gallery in Peoria City Hall to be immersed in a collection of art by some of the most notable names in modern fantasy art. This specially curated collection features original paintings, sculptures, prints, sketches, drawings and more. The exhibit collection includes work by Brian Froud, Wendy Froud, Scott Gustafson, James C. Christensen, Scott Radke, Rebecca Smith, J. Henry, Toby Froud, Steve Samsara and Sprite Hanson.

Some select bios of artists featured are:

Brian Froud, first came to popularity for his 1978 collaboration on the book Faeries with Alan Lee.  His later collaborations with Jim Henson on the films The Dark Crystal and then Labyrinth took his career to new places. The exhibit features several original paintings by Brian Froud and an array of limited-edition prints by the artist.

Wendy Froud, is probably most famous for her work on Yoda in the original Star Wars films. She later met her husband, Brian, on the set of the film The Dark Crystal where she sculpted many of the creatures seen on screen. Wendy is a sculptor and doll and puppet maker whose works are in collections across the world. Our exhibit features a number of original art dolls made by her.

Scott Gustafson, although has had the opportunity to work on many projects throughout his career, it is in illustrating children’s books that he finds the greatest satisfaction. Over the years, he is primarily known for his work illustrating children’s classics such as Peter Pan, The Night Before Christmas, and the more recent titles, Classic Fairy Tales, Favorite Nursery Rhymes from Mother Goose, Classic Bedtime Stories, and his novel for young readers, Eddie: The Lost Youth of Edgar Allan Poe, which he wrote and illustrated. Our exhibit collection features many limited-edition prints, sketches and drawings by Scott.

On Thursday, December 8th, from 4 to 6 pm there will be a Reception and discussion about the various artists on display. Enjoy light refreshments during this lively presentation and fun opportunity to interact with other local art collectors and enthusiasts. Free, no reservations required.
