BRILLIANT COLORS DOMINATE CREATIVE WORKS

Bright, colorful images are featured in large, powerful paintings by the well-known artist Michael Cunningham. A bold palette of watercolor folk art style images of women and family were created by Marlene Wilson. With a long notable national career as a photo journalist Arnold Williams intrigues with a limited photo retrospective including “A West Valley Palette Fire” to “New York’s Finest” and “A Buffalo Soldier”. Then emerging artist Greg Manley uses swirls of color in abstract detailed symbolic patterns on wooden panels.

All four diverse artists are featured currently in “Creative Works by Black Artists” on view through February 22 in the West Valley Art Museum Gallery on the first floor of Peoria City Hall, 8401 West Monroe Street, Peoria.

Michael Cunningham, Chef and Artist, shares varied styles. Marlene Wilson, family/friends/life in a folk art style. Arnold “Arne” Williams-photo journalism. Greg Manley-defined abstracts based on ebb and flow.

West Valley Art Museum is located on the first floor of Peoria City Hall at 8401 W. Monroe Street, Peoria. The Gallery is open free to the public on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays from 10 am to 4 pm and Thursdays from noon to 6 pm.
