Celebrating Art of the West Valley
III
Through
July 27, 2008
West Valley Art Museum in
Surprise announces the third
annual installment of “Celebrating
Art of the West Valley”. This
year’s exhibit was juried by
muralist and Glendale Community
College teacher Gregory Pearce.
Entries for this exhibition
totaled 232 from over 80 artists
with 72 works chosen by 62
artists.
Once again the artists on the
West side show their mettle,
with works in clay and on canvas and
paper that stand with
the best around the Valley. One
artist in particular was the
only one to have all of his entries
accepted: Thomas Schultz.
Pearce selected all three of his
photographs to be displayed,
citing their exceptional color
quality and compositional
strength. Other artists with at
least two entries accepted
were: Elayna Alexandra with two
digital photos; Julia Bullock’s
pastels; Cyndy Carstens oil
paintings; Nancy Christy-Moore’s
vibrant mixed media works; Dominick
Delorenzo’s detailed
and expressive drawings; Anton
Nowels’ bold abstract oils;
and Duncan Tweed’s rugged ceramics.
Reception, open to the public,
(non-members admission $7)
will be Thursday June 5, from 5 to 8
pm. Café On the Avenue
will supply light hor-d’oeuvres.
